I have had the privilege of knowing Jake since elementary school. Throughout the years I have seem him grow and change, and I am proud of the person he has become, for himself, for Abby and his family, and for his country. I will never forget that red-headed kid who showed up in my third grade class, who ended up spending many vacations with us in Florida, and who loved those around him truly and deeply. It seems like just yesterday that I was dropping Jake off at his home after football practice. He never forgot to say “thanks.”
